Lakshya Portal Registration: How JNV Students Get Their Login
You can't register yourself on the Lakshya Portal — here's how registration actually works through your school and the Regional Lakshya Coordinator.
Lakshya Portal Registration: How JNV Students Actually Get Their Login
There is no "Register" button on the NVS Lakshya Portal — and that's by design. Students don't sign themselves up. Registration happens through your school, and understanding the chain saves you weeks of confusion if your login hasn't arrived yet.
How registration really works
The process has three links in a chain:
- Your school's Lakshya coordinator collects your details: name, APAAR ID or Class X roll number, class, and stream.
- Those details go to the Regional Lakshya Coordinator for your region.
- The coordinator's team creates your account, and your login credentials come back to you — usually via a credentials sheet distributed through the school.
That's it. No forms for you to fill, no OTP, no email verification on your side. If you're a new admission to a JNV, your details go into the system as part of the admission paperwork — but always confirm with your school coordinator that your name was actually sent up the chain.
Transferred students: what to do
If you moved from one JNV to another, your old school's entry has to be cleared and your new school mapped. Share your complete details with your Regional Lakshya Coordinator:
- Your name
- APAAR ID / Class X roll number
- Class and stream
- Previous JNV (transferred from) and current JNV (transferred to)
After verification, you're mapped to the new school, and the update reflects on the portal — typically within 24 hours. Your school Lakshya coordinator can push this through immediately, so start with them.
Stream showing wrong?
A wrong stream on your dashboard (say you're a science student but the portal shows commerce) means the data entered upstream was wrong. Contact your Regional Lakshya Coordinator immediately to get it corrected — the fix reflects right away, and you just refresh or log in again. Don't attempt tests in the wrong stream while waiting; the syllabus and scoring are stream-specific.
When to worry (and when not to)
Don't worry if your login arrives a few days after admission — the chain takes time at the start of a session. Do follow up if classmates who joined with you already have credentials and you don't, or if a test window is approaching and you're still locked out. In both cases, the school coordinator first, then the Regional Lakshya Coordinator.
Once your credentials arrive, the step-by-step login guide walks you through your first sign-in, including which ID format your class uses.
