Lakshya Study Material & Test Series: What's Inside the Portal
Most students log in, take the monthly test, and log out — never touching the library that could actually raise their score. The Lakshya Portal's study resources are extensive and mapped to your class and stream. Here's a walkthrough of what's inside and how to use it.
The Library and Study Material
The core of the portal is its study material section: subject-wise modules, video lessons, and topic tests. The content is organised by stream, so a Class 12 science student sees Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology material — not a generic dump. The practical way to use it: after a chapter is taught in school, open the matching module and video on the portal the same week. The topic tests then tell you whether the chapter actually stuck.
Practice Tests
Separate from the monthly live tests, the portal offers practice tests you can attempt for preparation. These are your low-stakes rehearsal ground — no single-attempt pressure, just timed practice in the same MCQ format as the real thing. Use them to build speed before each monthly Lakshya Test, and review every wrong answer the same day.
The monthly live test series
The headline feature: NVS live tests through the year, one attempt each, with the syllabus announced in advance on the portal. After each test, the performance report (score, subject-wise analysis, question-wise solutions) becomes your study plan for the next month. Students aiming for the NCST or JDST scholarship tests get double value here — the monthly tests are the closest free simulation of those high-stakes exams.
JoSAA Counselling Tool (JEE students)
For JEE aspirants, the portal includes a JoSAA counselling tool — useful when it's time to understand college options, cutoffs and seat allocation after the exam. Most students discover it too late; bookmark it early so it's familiar when counselling season arrives.
Scholarship Finder
The scholarship finder lists scholarships beyond the Dakshana tests — worth browsing in Class 11, when application windows are still open. Many students only look for financial support in Class 12, when several deadlines have already passed.
Career Guidance Resources
The portal links college and career guidance resources, including the Career Guidance and Career Advisor tools. One quirk: your portal login does not work on those tools — they need a separate sign-up. Don't get stuck re-entering your portal password there.
A simple weekly routine
- After school: revise the week's chapters with the matching portal modules and videos.
- Weekend: one practice test, timed, then same-day review of mistakes.
- Before each monthly test: read the announced syllabus on the portal and do a focused revision round.
- After each monthly test: study the View Report analysis and convert weak chapters into next week's module work.
That's the whole system. The portal rewards consistency, not intensity — an hour a week in the library beats a panicked marathon before each test.
